Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Zane Pool Heating (“Zane”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a business of Waterco Limited (ABN 62 002 070 733). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information when you visit our website, contact us, request a quote or service, deal with our authorised dealer network, or apply to become a dealer.
1. The information we collect
Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. The personal information we may collect includes:
- your name;
- your contact details — email address, phone number, postal address, suburb and postcode;
- details about your pool and property that are relevant to a heating enquiry, quote or service;
- the products and services you are interested in;
- records of your enquiries and communications with us and our dealers;
- if you apply to become a Zane dealer, your business, contact and related application details; and
- technical information about your visit to our website (see section 6).
We generally do not collect sensitive information. If we ever need to, we will seek your consent unless we are otherwise permitted or required by law to collect it.
2. How we collect your information
We collect personal information in a number of ways, including when you:
- complete an enquiry, quote, contact or ebook form on our website;
- call our national enquiry line (1300 009 263) or contact us or one of our dealers directly;
- register a product, or make a warranty enquiry or claim;
- apply to become a Zane dealer; and
- use our website — automatically, through cookies and analytics tools.
Where it is reasonable and practicable, we collect personal information directly from you. Sometimes we may collect it from a third party, such as one of our authorised dealers or a referrer.
3. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your information
We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information for purposes including to:
- respond to your enquiries and provide you with information, quotes and support;
- connect you with your local authorised Zane dealer so they can quote, supply, install or service your pool heating system;
- process and manage product registrations, warranties and warranty claims;
- administer, maintain, improve and personalise our website and services;
- send you marketing and promotional material where you have not opted out (see section 5);
- assess and manage dealer applications; and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Disclosure of your information
Because Zane products are supplied, installed and serviced through a network of local dealers, an important part of how we help you involves sharing your enquiry with a dealer. We may disclose your personal information to:
- our authorised dealer network — when you request a quote, information or service, we pass your enquiry to the relevant local dealer(s) so they can assist you;
- Waterco Limited and companies within the Waterco group;
- our service providers and contractors — for example IT, website hosting, customer relationship, marketing, analytics and communications providers who help us run our business and website;
- any person to whom we are required or authorised by law to disclose it; and
- a purchaser or prospective purchaser of our business or assets.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that parties who receive your personal information handle it consistently with the APPs and only for the purposes for which it was provided.
5. Direct marketing
We may use your personal information to send you information about products, services, offers and news that we think may interest you, by email, phone, SMS or post. You can opt out of receiving marketing communications from us at any time by using the unsubscribe facility in our emails, or by contacting us using the details in section 12. We will action your request within a reasonable time. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies and our website
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We may use analytics and advertising tools that collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived at our site. This information is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can set your browser to refuse some or all cookies, although parts of the website may not function properly as a result.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers (for example hosting, email or analytics providers) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the APPs.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. To make a request, contact us using the details in section 12. We will respond within a reasonable period. There is usually no charge to make a request, although we may charge a reasonable fee for giving access in some circumstances. If we refuse access or correction, we will let you know why in writing, where we are required to.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details in section 12 so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
